AI sire used on the Choat first calf heifers. Epic is a B571 grandson that throws
calves that are dark red with lots of style. He combines low birth weight,
exceptional feet, good growth and excellent carcass in a moderate frame.

Dear Friends
Welcome to Burwell and our first joint production sale with Arrowsmith Red
Angus. It is our pleasure and privilege to join with them to serve you and your
genetic needs. Special thanks to all our past customers for your loyalty, support and
confidence in our program. We look forward to serving you for many years to come
with this joint venture.
We believe we share a similar vision with Arrowsmith Red Angus in empha-
sizing customer satisfaction and raising efficient, sound structured, easy keeping
cattle that are problem free. Our programs are different in many ways, but improv-
ing the profitability of our customers is an important goal we both share.
Like most of you, we have struggled with the continuing drought. By late sum-
mer we had to bring the bulls home because grass ran out. Fortunately, we had a
large yard where the bulls had plenty of room to exercise. They were put on a ration
of drought stricken corn silage, ground alfalfa, cracked corn and a protein supple-
ment. They were not pushed, but rather allowed to develop slowly. They are in good
breeding condition.
We are offering several sons out of our herd sire Messmer Jed V510. They are
all very similar in type and pattern. If you need to reduce birth weight, take a good
look at these sons. The Jed calves come small and have a reasonable rate of growth.
We believe his sons will sire the same kind of calves.
We also have several outstanding sons out of another herd sire, 5L Legend
425V. You will find them to be stout, well-muscled with lots of capacity. Most are
dark red in color and attractively made. Additional progeny that go back to 5L
sires and B571 sons and grandsons are also offered.
We are continuing to work on improving our herd by focusing on the functionality of
our cattle. We want our cows to breed back, have sound structure especially in their
feet and udders, with good fleshing ability and quiet dispositions. We believe our
bulls will pass along those qualities. Thanks again for your interest in our program.
