Dear Fellow Deer Enthusiasts,
Welcome to the 6th annual Alabama Deer Association Spring Auction and
Tradeshow. It is a great time of the year for ADA and our industry continues to move
forward year over year.
As trends in our business move in one direction or another and the genetic focus of
particular lineages are blended and shifted one thing remains constant: our members are
constantly improving their herds and whether you are a new breeder or a veteran breeder,
there is literally something for everyone in the pages of this catalog and at our tradeshow.
This is our biggest catalog ever so take the time to go over it and see the great lots
offered. If you have any questions, call the consignor or arrive early on Friday and find
out more. The tradeshow opens at 5 Friday night so come join us to take a look and talk
to the exhibitors, network and just have fun!
Our show has grown substantially this year with 47 booths sold at the writing of this
letter. Every Spring when this letter is sent out, we continue to say “It is the biggest show
in ADA history” and it continues to be true! Our auction continues to grow with great
consignments and donations. Our association has garnered attention from all over the
country and it shows! We have worked very hard to insure that your membership in the
Alabama Deer Association is a benefit to each and every member.
The Conservation Advisory Board on Saturday, March 9 passed a motion to define “on or
over the area” as it relates to hunting over bait for deer and wild hogs in Alabama. The
new definition allows a hunter to be beyond 100 yards and out of the line of sight of a
supplemental feeding station and not be considered to be hunting over bait. Association
board members Terry Kennedy and Trey Montgomery along with Association Executive
Director Steve Guy and ADA member Robb Grubb testified in support of the new
regulation at the Advisory Board meeting in Birmingham. After the regulation is signed
by Conservation Commissioner Guy and Governor Bentley, it should be approved by the
Legislative Review Council and become law for the start of next hunting season. This will
allow many of our ADA members to continue their feeding programs year round without
having to worry about whether or not they are breaking the baiting laws.
We cannot wait to see all of you again in Birmingham, AL April 5th and 6th 2013.
Come
join in the fun and excitement we will have this year. Remember this event is an opportunity
for our members to attend the best auction in Alabama and to learn about the industry to
enjoy and have fun!
Warmest Regards,
Matt Long
BOD Director
Auction Chairman
See you April 5th and 6th!
