Sale Procedure and Locations Cattle Viewing: Chimney Butte Ranch, Mandan, ND Sale Location: St Anthony Verien Hall, St Anthony, North Dakota. All cattle will be penned and viewed at Chimney Butte Ranch, Mandan, North Dakota. Cattle will be available for viewing Friday, Oc- tober 27 and Saturday, October 28, 2023. Auction will be held via video at St Anthony Verien Hall with video of each respective animal displayed on large screens as animals are auctioned. The Northern Maternal Focus Gelbvieh and Balancer Bred Heifers, Cows and 18 Month Old Bulls Sell Bull Developement and Guarantee Our bulls were fed the same ration as previous years, Until Feb 1, when we made the tough decision to cancel our spring sale. We put the bulls on a higher roughage ration with a planned growing ration of 1 to 1.5 lbs gain per day. When winter finally left us the ration changed to chopped hay and some corn. When summer came, the ration was long hay and limited grazing. To add condition for the sale, about Sept 1, we put Purina Accuration in the bull pen with the long hay. Free choice mineral and salt has always been available. We feel we have grown the bulls and not pushed them to their true potential. I believe these bulls have been developed for longevity, and will adapt quickly to new feeding or pasture programs. Welcome to our production sale. NOTHING IS AS CERTAIN AS CHANGE Mother Nature certainly gave us some challenges last winter. Record snowfall in early November, followed by severe cold and several storms, forced us to make many changes in our operation. Feeding the animals to keep them warm and healthy was a challenge. Our working facilities and working corrals were constantly snowed in. Our days were long, our fuel bill was high, but the cattle made it thru in good shape. Quite honestly, our spring sale was cancelled because we were just overworked and could not properly prepare for the sale. We had discussed combining the bull sale with our fall heifer sale many times. Mother Nature made the decision for us. The bulls have been culled heavily, and are ready for work. In the past I have been more than satisfied with the older bulls we have pur- chased. I am very pleased with the quality and condition of these bulls. As in the past, every heifer that bred A-I is offered in this sale. We also added every older cow that settled A-I to this sale. The females we are offering represent over 30 years of maternal focused breeding. No A-I bred females have been held back. Ultrasound technology was used for breeding date confirmation and fetal sex determination. We have culled for various reasons and we reserve the right to cull until the sale. We also changed the physical sale location to provide a more comfortable and enjoyable experience. The animals are available for view- ing at the ranch, with the sale only 15 miles away. Come visit the ranch, view the animals, have a cup of coffee, visit with us before the sale. Immediately after the sale, we will be providing a supper for our guests. The meal will be catered by Rusty’s Bar and Grill. What has not changed is our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. We have sold animals from Canada to Mexico, and Washington State to Georgia. Our animals have performed well in many different environments and management systems. We have worked hard to create a reputation for honest hard working animals that will adapt to most environments.
