We AI’ed to “Gun Slinger” on August 9th, 2014
to bring back his great genetics. “Gun Slinger” is
one of the top 5 stud rams I have ever used in my
65 years of raising suffolks. With lambs so young
it is hard to pick out lambs to enter but I will only
bring the best ram lambs by “Gun Slinger” and
out of my top foundation ewes.

This entry exemplifies our motto: “Since 1973 --
Practical, Productive Suffolks for the Range and
Ring.” The 2014 sons of “Great Expectations”
out of our home-bred ewes really impressed our
ram customers with their overall size, stretch,
natural muscling and structural soundness -- so
much so that we sold out quickly and decided to
keep only this ram to develop as a yearling. And
develop he has --he started out as a youthful
1st place winter ram lamb and became grand
champion Suffolk ram under Judge Jeff Repasky
at the 2014 Nebraska State Fair. “Great Expecta-
tions” was rechristened when we bought him at
the 2012 Ohio Suffolk Sale, where he was John
Corson’s Res. Grand Champion Suffolk Ram.
You’ll also see his positive impact on our pro-
gram in our ram and ewe lamb consignments to
Sedalia 2015. This entry’s dam is a home-raised
ewe going back to Cloud, Slack and High Plains
foundations.

We’ll be bringing a November 1st or later born
son of “Great Expectations” out of one of our
home-bred ewes -- a muscular, growthy, correct
ram prospect that’s sure to please the producer
who values meat traits and a slightly more
moderate frame.

This will be the first and one of the few daugh-
ters of “Great Expectations” that we offer for
sale. She’ll be January or later born unless Red
changes his mind and decides to bring one of
the late fall-early winter ewe lambs instead. The
“Great Expectations” daughters are that power-
ful, broody type -- feminine yet substantial with-
out being extreme, with stud-mama written all
over them -- the kind of sheep you have to get
your hands on to appreciate.
