Dear Cattlemen:
Welcome to the Genetic Development Center, the largest and most advanced feed efficiency & performance bull test south
of the Mason-Dixon! We’d like to thank you for joining us for our 1st Annual “Best of the Test” multi-breed bull and fe-
male sale. is sale catalog represents the top cut om over 250 eligible bulls that have completed our summer and fall
efficiency tests…Only the BEST OF THE TEST will sell!
e GDC completed construction in the summer of 2012. Less than a year removed om the worst single-year drought on
record in Texas and with much of Texas and surrounding states still with no relief in sight, we tested our first 100 bulls.
In a short few years, we have doubled our pen capacity and increased our number of bulls on test five-fold. e landscape
for cattlemen is a lot brighter now than it was in those cruel months of 2011-2012. Record feeder cattle prices, high de-
mand for replacement females and herd bulls, combined with favorable rainfall and grain prices has been a much needed
boost to cattlemen, particularly in our part of the country.
at being said, the perfect storm of favorable market conditions we now enjoy will not last forever. e need to maximize
production efficiency &minimize input costs will continue to be the benchmark of profitability in our business. With about
70% of variable costs of cattle production related to feed and forage, identifying the most feed efficient genetics within your
own herd is one of the quickest routes to increased profitability. e GDC’s feed intake measuring abilities and RFI data now
allow breeders to compare their cattle against each other or cattle om other producers of the same breed in meaningful con-
temporary groups. At the GDC we equip our breeders with data that add value to their animals and help make important
breeding decisions: individual ADG, feed conversion, residual feed intake (RFI), and daily intake. Additionally, we provide
carcass ultrasound data and fertility test every bull at the conclusion of the 4 month program.
Perhaps no other bull test & heifer development facility can boast what the GDC can; having access to AI, ET, IVF and
semen collection facilities on the same location. ose are all possibilities as the GDC is a division of Sexing Technologies.
Valuable heifers developed and evaluated at the GDC can be AI’d or flushed on site with owner semen or with sexed
semen purchased om ST. Herd bull & stud bull prospects can be collected and have their semen sorted without ever hav-
ing to leave the property.
e GDC was established with several goals in mind: to provide registered breeders in the lower 48 states a place to de-
velop bulls and heifers and to obtain more individual performance data on those animals than was possible anywhere else.
In addition, this facility would provide breeders with reliable and consistent outlet to market their animals in a competi-
tive environment and to increase exposure to their product, resulting in an expanded customer base. Added data means
added value, for both the seller and the buyer.
For the commercial cattleman, the GDC represents a one-stop shop for cow-calf raisers with many different breeds avail-
able for purchase at a single facility. e GDC is strategically located in the Brazos Valley, within 2 hours’ drive of the top
10 beef cow counties in the state. ere is a big demand for bulls here and with the help of our valued breeders, we can
help meet it.
