Welcome to our 37th Annual Production Sale. We are certainly
excited about the cattle industry and particularly the Red Angus
breed. Not only are Red Angus cattle topping the markets across
the country, our breed is taking a leading role in rebuilding the
nation’s cow herd as the favored female. It is certainly hard to
believe the changes that the breed and the industry has been
through over the past half century.
For the last 50 years in the Red Angus business, our ranches
focus has been on the herd. We have continually selected for
females that are feminine, highly maternal, with outstanding feet,
legs, udders and have a quiet disposition. They are deep sided,
soft made cattle with plenty of length, muscle and bone. For us
these females offer a lot of longevity, fertility, and the ability to
raise market-topping steer calves who are efficient, high-gaining cattle in the
feed yard and hang high quality carcasses in the packing plant. These combined traits offer a
profitable animal to the industry.
The yearling bulls and heifers were weaned in late
September and early October. The bulls will be
carcass ultrasounded in late February. A supple-
ment sheet containing the carcass data will be
provided sale day and on our web site (www.
pedersonbhr.com). Videos will also be available
on our website and on our Facebook page (www.
facebook.com/pedersonbhr) .
The heifers have come out of the heart of our
replacement pen. The bred heifers were pregnancy ultrasounded by Dr. Brittany Chaney, Oahe Veterinary Hospital, Mobridge.
We will be selling the commercial heifers first, then the bulls, and end with the registered heifers.
We’d like to thank our hired man, Tim Johnson, for his help through the past year. Tim is a valuable asset to our operation and we couldn’t get
everything done without his help. Logan Pederson, our great grandson, grandson, nephew
was here this past summer. Logan was a huge amount of help and we appreciate his assis-
tance.
If you have any questions or if there is any way we can assist you please don’t hesitate to
contact us. The cattle can be viewed at the ranch anytime. Stop in and have a cup of cof-
fee with us – we’d love to visit with you. Check our website (
