red angus Females
We are very proud to be in the Red Angus business and sincerely thank my family for the opportunity to be the 5th generation to produce and
market seedstock cattle in Texas. Mom & Dad are enjoying excellent health and have truly blessed my siblings and I with the opportunity to grow
up on this ranch under their leadership and guidance. Two years ago our family did a generational transfer where Mom and Dad passed this ranch
along to my siblings and I. We continue to get questions as to why we dispersed the entire cow herd. We chose to do that because my siblings love
to raise commercial cattle and they are really good at it. Therefore we chose to disperse our entire cowherd so that Mom & Dad’s life work can be
carried on through other great breeding programs around the world. It also simplified how to divide the herd among my generation and how to
determine their value. Thankfully my family allowed Kelli and I the opportunity to capture embryos from the elite cows before the dispersal so that
we could better carry on the family tradition of producing superior seedstock and have the pipeline loaded for this year’s sale. Many of the bulls in
this year’s sale are the result of those embryos that were put into Kelli & I’s commercial cowherd. We were very transparent in letting people know
that we were selling all females (except AbiGrace who was almost 13 at the time) and yet that we as family members might buy a few cattle in the
dispersal. We bought 20 Red Angus cows in the sale and have been producing embryos from many of them in order to rebuild this cow herd to be
stronger than ever. We continue on with our long time philosophy of selling these top young donors as they enter the prime of their life to share
them with the industry as we bring our next generation of great donors into production. This standout female was a very logical choice to start
off this year’s sale and her Takeover son found his
way into the herd bull prospect pen in this sale
as lot # 169. He’s just flat out “good”. Her dam,
AbiGrace is now almost 15 years old and produc-
ing great, like her mother who produced through
age 15 & her grandmother who produced through
age 17. There is tremendous longevity bred into
this amazing line of cattle. By the end of October,
AbiGrace will have her 300th calf on the ground.
We believe in the philosophy that there are never
enough of the really good cattle. This AbiGrace
daughter is sired by the amazing Nebula P707
sire who produces some of the most beautiful fe-
males in the business. She has been a fruitful do-
nor for us producing an average of 6.8 embryos in
4 flushes. We encourage all families to do progres-
sive estate planning like my parents have done to
accomplish their goal of “keeping the ranch in the
family and the family in the ranch.” Investing in
great genetics like these two full sisters that lead
off this year’s sale can be another wise decision to
help your family.
