. . . . . 119 Years of Raising Cattle That Fit Our Environment
W
elcome,
Our family would like to welcome you, your family and friends to our 44th Annual Bull and Female Sale, Monday,,January 16, 2017. The sale will take place on our
ranch 2
½
miles east of Oshkosh, Nebraska right on Hwy. 26.
It has been quite a year in Western Nebraska. Mother nature really smiled on us with terrific calving weather in February and March, ample moisture in April and
May resulting in one of our best grass and feed growing years and a pleasant fall to get cattle work and harvest completed.
With the uncertainty in the cattle market, one thing is certain and more important than ever is that high quality feeder cattle are worth more. With inputs
continually rising, fast growing, feed efficient feeder cattle and replacement females are key.
We feel that our type of easy fleshing, growthy Hereford cattle will add efficiency to most any cow herd.
Our cow herd is managed without special treatment. We maintain our cow herd exactly as any good commercial operation — as inexpensively as possible. Our
cows graze with no supplement nine months a year and calves receive no creep feed.
As you look through the catalog, you may notice subtle differences in the bulls, but from top to bottom, they all have certain things in common: efficient
mother cows with good, trouble free udders; thickness over the back; big hindquarters; balanced EPDs; long, strong backs; straight sound legs; Hereford libido;
eye appeal; deep ribbed; good hair; good fertility and unconditionally guaranteed.
This is a very powerful set of bulls. The quality runs deep through the entire offering. If you need heifer bulls, you will find 50-60 heifer bull prospects in this
year’s offering. We offer free delivery with a bull purchase of $5,000 or $100 off your bull if you haul them yourself. We offer delivery on the heifer calves at cost.
In approximately two weeks, you will receive a fact sheet with the offerings’ final weights, pelvic measurements and scrotal circumferences. Ultrasound data on
the bull calves will be available in early January. We will post it to the website and will be available sale day. We will retain a quarter semen interest in all sale bulls.
Cattle will sell in catalog order.
Sincerely,
The Van Newkirk Family
Joe, Cyndi, Kolby and Meg and Barrett, Nick and Sara
