DVAuction Online Catalogs - page 4

Greetings from the beautiful Shenandoah Valley!
Please join us Saturday, May 13th at 1:00 pm for our 9th production sale. For 41 years our focus has been raising
cattle with breed-leading performance and longevity, outstanding phenotype, consistency and style. While we raise
fancy SimAngusTM, our forte is elite, outcross, purebred Simmental genetics.
It’s been a long time since we’ve had a spring sale. Spring in the Shenandoah Valley is unbelievably spectacular.
The Valley is teeming with new life...green leaves, magnificent flowers, and newborn wildlife and farm animals
everywhere! It’s a fresh start to a brand new year. We also have a fresh start to our marketing program. We wish to
welcome Cattle In Demand as our sale management team and sincerely appreciate their efforts in making this sale a
reality.
Our annual Spring sale consists of beauty-gorgeous “Ladies of the Valley” and a select group of stout, breeding-age
bulls. Our fall sale will consist of ready-to-work Virginia range-raised bulls. We’re extremely proud of this offering
from the heart of our herd and as always, we’re committed to sharing our top genetics. These cattle, and all of our
livestock, are extended family. They’re treated with respect, well-cared for, and always eat before we do. Our motto is
“Home of the Keepin’ Kind” and the cattle in this offering are definitely “the keepin’ kind”!
The females are high maternal, performance cattle with a touch of flash and flare. They’re “pasture pretty” and should
excel as highly productive brood cows, rock solid donors and in the showring. The bulls are athletes, developed in
Virginia range conditions, not in a dry lot. They’re designed to efficiently convert grass to meat, thrive on fescue, travel
rough country, and withstand the wide weather extremes experienced in these mountains.
Our video auction is held in a 1860s barn decorated with old farm implements and antiques on our historic Century
Farm. And for a trip down Appalachian farm-life memory lane I’d highly suggest visiting The Smith Creek Heritage
Farm, owned by Tommy and Georgie Wright. They graciously offer free tours of their farm equipment and collectibles
museum. It’s a must see!
And I’d like to extend a sincere “thank you” to the talented, dedicated individuals who help make this sale possible,
with a special thanks to Barry Armstrong for his help year-round. Please visit our website for the on-line catalog and
videos and contact me with any questions you may have. I always love to “talk cow”.
Hope to see you at the sale!
