Gum Springs Farms in Decatur Arkansas has allowed us to dig deep into their
replacement heifers to present you with an offering that will satisfy the most
discriminating cowman. The Williams family has been using Hatfield BRANGUS
bulls on their commercial Angus cattle to produce fertile and calving ease
ULTRABLACK females that are built for the long haul. Ranch manager Justin
Lovitt has been using an old school method of bring heifers into production that
produces results!
These heifers are hand weighed at birth, raised on grass and their mother’s milk
only. They are weighed at weaning and placed on a very conservative growing
ration until weaning. At yearling, they are weighed and placed on Bermuda and
Kentucky 31 Fescue traps to grow till they are 18 months of age. There is nothing
provided to these heifers except mineral till they are bred at 18 months! The
breeding rates and rebreeding rates are outstanding on these heifers due to this
management strategy.
The offering will consist of fifteen coming yearling females and ten coming 18
month old females. All birth, weaning, and yearling weight data will be available on
sale day for buyers. These females have been under a strict and comprehensive
vaccination program managed by Dr. Harris in Gravette Arkansas.
