Welcome to Ludvigson Stock Farms 11th Annual Spring Edition Herdbuilder Bull Sale. We again this year have feed effi-
ciency tested all of the bulls and we will be testing all of our replacement females as well. We feed efficiency test more Red
Angus cattle than anyone else in the world and we think that this will give an “edge” to our customers in the future. Feedlots
continue to try to find the most efficient cattle in the industry as well as the cattle that command the premiums on the hook.
We have made it our business to combine the most relevant traits so that our customers can receive the premiums from the
industry.
Our multi-trait breeding program emphasizes optimization not maximization. We have been incorporating the patented
Leachman $Profit Index into our selection tools and we have found that it “mirrors” the selection philosophy that we have
used for years. The $Profit index along with EPD’s for Feed Intake and Feed Efficiency will help our customers to evaluate
their herd bull selections. Like all EPD’s you must use it in a balanced approach to make the best progress.
Cow calf operations are long term and with that in mind it is better to provide genetics that will have long-term positive ef-
fects. We believe that by utilizing indexes we can help our customers to make significant gains and “leap frog” their own
contemporaries. Just as the pork and poultry industries saw significant progress from index usage, we feel that we can attain
that same ground breaking progress.
The bulls have been developed at theWeschenfelder Development Center. The bulls have been fed a high roughage ration
that allows the bulls to express their genetic potential and at the same time provide an excellent condition for turnout. Our
bulls are developed to adapt to any environment or management program and you can feel rest assured that a “LSF” bull will
hit the ground running at your operation.
We are offering a large number of bulls again this year. We never want our bulls to become economically “unbalanced” for
our customers. We will continue to offer more volume of bulls to meet increased demand from our current customer base
along with our ever growing list of new customers. Feel confident that you will always be able to fill all your bull needs from
our program at prices that give more value than anywhere in the breed today.
