RED ANGUS FEMALES
The Tidy Bee cow family may be most noted for the
making of past Bootjack legend – BJR JR 107, one
of the most influential bulls of the mid and late ’90s,
owned and used extensively by the Lonker program of
Kansas and the Bieber program of South Dakota.
When Doc Hehli made his initial purchase of Red Angus
cattle in 1998, he couldn’t have chosen a stronger
foundation to invest in than the Bootjack program of
Montana. I was one of the auctioneers for the Bootjack
Dispersal in 1998 when Doc bought four potloads of
cows that day. We all wondered who he was and the
only answer I heard was he was some doctor from Wis-
consin. I did not hear another thing about these cows
or Dr. David Hehli for about five years when I started to
hear rumblings of a Red Angus operation in Wisconsin
called Damar Farms and they had a bunch of Bootjack
genetics. When I finally met and became acquainted
with Doc, he told me that he didn’t realize the power of
the genetics he had purchased at the time, and it was
later, that he decided to take this foundation of Boot-
jack genetics and charge onward with a registered Red
Angus program. In the last decade, Damar Farms has
become revered for some of the finest Red Angus cattle
in the world most recently exhibited by the National
Grand Champion Red Angus Bull in Louisville, Ken-
tucky, (Nov. 2016) and the NWSS Grand Champion Red
Angus Bull in Denver (Jan. 2017) – DAMAR TRUMP
C512 – a direct product of Damar Farms.
The cattle and genetics coming out the Dama Farms
“Last Dance” Dispersal will go on to make a major
impact in the future of the Red Angus breed. My thanks
and gratitude go out to Dr. David (Doc) Hehli for in-
vesting his resources, time and energy over the past
decades to the greatest breed of cattle on earth – Red
Angus.
The Tidy Bee’s are the last cow family highlighted in
this offering – now we go on to the amazing Damar
herd and Lots 227 – 1024.
